Add-ons

Are you sure you need to use this page? As of v3.1.0, it is strongly recommended to download and install add-ons directly from XMLmind XML Editor, using menu item "Options|Install Add-ons".

The add-ons listed below should work fine for XMLmind XML Editor Personal Edition and Professional Edition v5.1.1. Most of them will not work with any other version of the editor.

Disclaimer: except for the XFC XSL-FO processor plug-in which is entirely the work of XMLmind (therefore this plug-in is professionally supported by us), XMLmind has created all the other plug-ins (Batik, Jimi, FOP, XEP, etc) in the hope they are useful, but makes no claim about their quality or their usefulness. It is important to understand that XMLmind is just responsible of the integration of these third party tools in XML Editor (a very thin layer indeed) and that these plug-ins should not be considered as being part of our product.

How to manually install an add-on  Back to TOC

Unzip the downloaded distribution in the addon/ subdirectory of XXE installation directory and restart XXE. After doing that, XXE will probably not see the add-on you have installed by hand. You now need to clear the quick start cache. This is done by selecting Options|Install Add-ons, then clicking first Clear button in Options|Preferences, Advanced|Cached Data section and finally restarting XXE one more time.

It is also possible to unzip the downloaded distribution in the addon/ subdirectory of XXE user preferences directory. XXE user preferences directory is:

  • $HOME/.xxe5/ on Linux,
  • $HOME/Library/Application Support/XMLmind/XMLEditor5/ on the Mac,
  • %APPDATA%\XMLmind\XMLEditor5\ on Windows XP, Vista, 7.

    Example: C:\Documents and Settings\john\Application Data\XMLmind\XMLEditor5\ on Windows XP. C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\XMLmind\XMLEditor5\ on Windows Vista and 7.

    If you cannot see the "Application Data" directory using Microsoft Windows File Manager, turn on Tools>Folder Options>View>File and Folders>Show hidden files and folders.

On the Mac

XXE ``bin directory'' is found inside the application bundle. Using the Finder, Ctrl-click or right-click on the XMLEditor icon and then choose "Show Package Contents" from the pop-menu in order to open the application bundle.

Example: if XXE is installed in /Applications/xxe-perso-5_1_1/, XXE ``bin directory'' is /Applications/xxe-perso-5_1_1/XMLEditor.app/Contents/Resources/Java/. Therefore the add-on tape must be unzipped inside /Applications/xxe-perso-5_1_1/XMLEditor.app/Contents/Resources/addon/.
