Some of the problems solved by XMLmind XSL-FO Converter

item More comfort for your users: your application, Web site, CMS, etc, already automatically generates a number of documents (reports, newsletters, white papers, etc) in PDF format. Some of your users may prefer to obtain these documents in an office automation format. Good reasons for that are:

  • They are more at ease with their favorite word processor than with Adobe® Acrobat® Reader.
  • They need to review and annotate the document.

item Simple pre-filled forms: your application needs to automatically generate forms where some of the fields are already filled (e.g. order forms). Generating these forms in an office automation format means that your customers will be able to use their favorite word processor to fill the forms. Using a word processor also makes it easy to print the form and send it by fax or e-mail.

item Semi-automatic reports: by automatically generating letters or reports, your application does most of the work and saves you a great deal of time and money. However, from time to time, it may happen that a letter needs to be customized or a report needs to be reworked. In such case, the person in charge of editing the document will probably want to use her/his favorite word processor.

item Interchange with the rest of the world: as a technical writer, you prefer to use a structured format (DocBook, DITA, etc) for your documents. This may be a problem in some situations:

  • The reviewers of your work want to use a word processor.
  • You are expected to deliver your work in a major office automation format.
